Why choose HERO 14"

Market leading quality & extraordinary value

Our goal was to create beautiful, reliable and great value bikes that spark joy and build confidence. No stone was left unturned in our quest to make the HERO range one of the lightest, highest-quality, and most affordable on the market.

Bikes kids will love to ride

We know parents want the best for their kids. We pored over the details (crank lengths, stand over height, wheel-base, Q-factor, frame geometry and riding position) so you don’t have to. The HEROs are designed for comfort and supreme handling. They also happen to be beautiful to look at – giving children the confidence to ride in style.

Seriously lightweight

A lighter bike is easier to learn on and means your child will be happy to ride further than on a heavier bike. At 5.5kg the HERO is among the very lightest 16” bikes in the market. The ‘leaned-in’ geometry makes it easier to pedal uphill than bikes with a more upright geometry, making for a more enjoyable riding experience.

Lifetime warranty

We stand by the top quality of our bikes. This is why we offer a free lifetime warranty on the frame and forks to the original owner for as long as they own the bike. This gives you ultimate peace of mind over their safety, durability and all round value. Visit our 'Warranty Information' page for more details.

Explore HERO 16"

Perfectly proportioned frame.

A comfortable riding position is key both on the flats and the uphills. This translates into a geometry that is optimised to allow a leaned-in position and a narrow Q-factor to cater to children’s narrower hips. The lower handlebar position offers more stability, balance and control making it quicker and easier to learn.

Child-friendly brakes, bars and grips

We use short-reach, adjustable brake levers to make it easier for children with small hands. We also use narrow child-friendly handlebars and contoured grips for improved handling and control.

Maximising efficiency

Given that so many children learn on balance bikes, they are ready for a comfortable, sportier riding position. Our riding position and crank lengths and gearing are all designed for maximum efficiency as we want children to love their HEROs as much as we loved designing them.

Hebie Looper Chainguard.

The patented and completely closed chainguard which not only prevents inquisitive fingers from getting trapped or pinched, but also offers excellent protection against dirt. It combines a sturdy construction and streamlined design, enhancing the appearance of the bike compared to ordinary chainguards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size pedal bike does my child need?

HERO pedal bike sizes are based on inside leg measurements.
• The 14” pedal bike is designed for an inside leg of 34-41cm (approximate age 3-5 years old).
• The 16” pedal bike is designed for an inside leg of 40-51cm (approximate 3-6 years old).
• The 20" pedal bike is designed for an inside leg of 49-64cm (approximate 4-7 years old).
• The 24” pedal bike is designed for an inside leg of 63-78cm (approximate 6-10 years old).

Is it better to buy a kids’ pedal bike with or without stabilisers?

Universal stabilisers can be fitted to HERO, but it is not what we recommend or stock. If your little one has never cycled before then we would recommend the AIRO balance bike instead of stabilisers before they move to a HERO pedal bike. This will ensure a smoother transition over to pedalling.

How high should the seat be?

The seat is adjustable and can be set to a range of heights to suit your child’s inside leg measurement. Generally, we say that the child should just be able to touch the floor so that they don’t sit too low or high on the bike.

If your child is a beginner, we would suggest adding 2-3cm to the recommend minimum inside leg measurement so that their feet are flatter on the floor as they gain more confidence riding their bike.

Does the bike come assembled?

Every one of our bikes is inspected by our UK based trained mechanics who will assemble and tune your bike before it's sent to you. When it arrives, some simple assembly will be required. However, there are a few small things you need to do to your bike before it can be ridden, for example, adjust the seat. Read our instructions to find out what you need to do.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

The standard frame and forks warranty is 3 years from the date of purchase. You can upgrade to a lifetime warranty for the frame and forks for free by registering here, using your order number. All warranties applies only when the product is used as intended, under normal conditions and does not apply to damage caused by wear and tear, accidents, corrosive substances, water, misuse or neglect. This does not affect your statutory rights. Lifetime means for as long as the original purchaser owns the bike. In all cases the warranty is limited to the value of the product.
