The All-New Hornit AIRO Balance Bike

Introducing the all-new Hornit AIRO balance bike. Available in 6 eye-catching colours, pink, white, red, yellow, blue and turquoise (or as we like to call them, Magma Red, Flamingo Pink, Hammer Yellow, Orca White, Marvericks Blue and Tuvalu Turquoise), the AIRO joins the award winning Hornit family.

Weighing just 2.95kg and featuring proper air-filled tyres, here’s the lowdown on our levitatingly light balance bike. 

What is a balance bike?

Designed to perform in much the same way as a traditional bike but without pedals, a balance bike is a great way to accelerate your child’s riding ability. Perfect for mastering the art of steering and the sensation of balance, a balance bike should be a little one’s first step into the world of cycling before they transition to pedalling. 

Who’s it for?
The AIRO is suitable for children with an inside leg measurement of 30cm to 46cm (11.8" to 18.9"), which makes it the perfect size for most children aged 18 months up to around 5 years old. Including several seating positions to choose from, the adjustable saddle height lets you raise or lower the seat from 34cm to 44cm, meaning the AIRO is great for seeing them through their early years of riding. 

Why choose the AIRO?

When you take delivery of your AIRO getting it ready to ride is a doddle. Arriving almost fully assembled, all you need to do is tighten three bolts, adjust the seat height (if necessary) and make sure the tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. That’s it.

We identified that parents want a bike that lasts not just one child but the early cycling stages all their little ones. We’ve concentrated hard on making this possible and we’ve finally cracked it (pardon the pun). Using an ultra-hard-wearing magnesium alloy and only the very best parts, multiple children will be able to learn to ride on the same bike. This means less time spent forking out on lesser, more fragile bikes and more time watching your little one(s) enjoy their first trips out on two wheels!

We’re so proud at how light the AIRO is that we came up with a new word to describe it! ‘Levitatingly’ light at just 2.95kg, the AIRO is one of the lightest bikes on the market. We searched long and hard to find a lighter balance bike and the only ones we found were made with plastic wheels and uncomfortable foam tyres. The AIRO’s proper air-filled rubber tyres on aluminium rims really puts the AIRO onto a new level. After all, not all balance bikes are created equal. 

Contoured grip-taped footrests
The footrests have been stylishly designed for an easy freewheeling experience. Your little ones can easily rest their feet on the grip-tape which as well as improving their balance, saves you money on replacing their shoes each month (or breaks as they like to call them!).

Some of the eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that the AIRO does not come with valve caps. Under EN71 toy regulations, we have had to remove them as they present a choking hazard for younger children. This is just one of the many additions we have added to the AIRO to make sure it’s as safe as possible for your child. A neat cushioned neoprene cover to the stem helps to reduce any knocks, while the shock-absorbing handlebar grips help minimise the impact. Real tyres help too, increasing grip and ride comfort. Much better than the plastic ones you find on an average balance bike!
